Summary[edit]

Description
English: Phra Prang Sam Yot is one of the notable ancient and archaeological sites in Lopburi. Located in Tha Hin subdistrict, Muang Lopbiri district, it was built in the reign of King Jayavarman VII to serve as a Vajrayana Buddhistsitein Lavo Kingdom or ancient Lopburi. The structure comprises three Khmer-style laterite prangs linked to one another. The structure was constructed with layers of laterite and adorned with stucco decorations.

Phra Prang Sam Yot was built to be a center of Buddhist place for Vajrayana, Mahayana doctrine in the era that the Khmer governed Lawoe or Lopburi. The center one houses the image of the Buddha, sitting under the canopy of serpents’ heads. The prang in the north houses an image of Bodhisattya Awalokitesuan and the prang in the south houses an image of “Prachya Paramita”, wife of Bodhisattya Awalokitesuan.

At the front towards the east is located the wihan that houses a large Buddha statue in subduing mara position dating back to the early Ayutthaya Kingdom in 20th Buddhist century.
